When our Barboursville client reached out to us, she shared that she was finally ready to create a space just for herself. After years of renovating other areas of her home, she wanted a bathroom that felt like a personal retreat—a place to relax, unwind, and recharge.

She envisioned a space featuring soft gray tones, brushed metal finishes, and a larger shower that felt open and luxurious rather than confined.

Our team managed every aspect of the renovation, delivering a true white-glove experience from design through installation. The project included the demolition and replacement of the existing vanity, shower, bathtub, toilet, flooring, fixtures, and finishes.

After her design consultation, the selected features included:

• Ash Gray Double Sink Vanity
• Calacatta Classique Quartz Countertops
• Enlarged Frameless Glass Shower
• Brighton Gold Porcelain Shower Tile
• Trecento Quartzo Taj Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring
• Decorative Wainscoting
• Satin Nickel Gibson Cabinet Hardware
• Upgraded LED Lighting
• New Elongated Toilet
• Freestanding Soaking Tub
• New Plumbing Fixtures
• Fresh Interior Paint

The result was a bright, elegant bathroom retreat that exceeded our client's expectations and beautifully reflected her vision.

"After years of renovating for everyone else, she finally built a space just for herself and every decision in this bathroom reflects that."

Design Decisions

01

Soft gray palette, building a retreat from the ground up.

The client's brief was precise: soft gray tones, brushed metal finishes, a sense of openness. Every material decision flowed from that brief. Ash Gray cabinetry, Calacatta Classique quartz with its soft white and grey movement, satin nickel hardware, and Brighton Gold porcelain tile: each element reinforces the same quiet, sophisticated register. The result is a room that feels cohesive because it was designed as a system, not assembled from individual selections.

02

Calacatta Classique Quartz: elegant without the maintenance of marble.

The client wanted the refined, spa-like quality of a marble-look surface. Calacatta Classique quartz delivers exactly that: a soft white ground with delicate grey veining, while eliminating the sealing schedule and acid sensitivity that natural marble demands in a daily-use bathroom. For a room designed to be a place of relaxation, a surface that requires anxious maintenance would have worked against the brief.

03

Enlarged frameless glass shower: the room's defining spatial upgrade.

The client specifically wanted a shower that felt open rather than confined. Enlarging the shower footprint and enclosing it with frameless glass achieves both goals: more usable space inside, and a visual openness that makes the entire bathroom feel larger. A framed enclosure would have partially achieved the size goal while undermining the luxury register the client was after. The frameless glass effectively disappears into the room.

04

Freestanding soaking tub: the focal point she had waited for.

After years of prioritising other rooms, the freestanding soaking tub was the element this client had wanted longest. Its placement was considered carefully, positioned to benefit from the room's natural light and give the eye a clear view on entering the bathroom. Wall-mounted plumbing keeps the floor plane around the tub clean and uncluttered, which is essential for a piece that reads as furniture as much as fixture.

05

Wainscoting and LVT flooring: layered texture at every level.

Decorative wainscoting on the lower walls adds architectural interest and a sense of craftsmanship without the cost or complexity of full tile. The Trecento Quartzo Taj Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring brings warmth and stone-look character to the floor plane with the practical advantages of LVT: waterproof, comfortable underfoot, and dimensionally stable in a humid bathroom environment. Together they give the room visual depth at every level from floor to eye height.

06

Satin nickel hardware and LED lighting: the finishing details.

Consistent hardware finish across every touch point (Gibson cabinet pulls, plumbing fixtures, shower fittings) ensures the room reads as designed rather than assembled.Satin nickel sits warmly between chrome and brushed nickel, complementing the soft grey palette without pulling it cool. The upgraded LED lighting was specified in layers: ambient overhead, task lighting at the vanity mirror, and shower lighting on a separate circuit, so the room can be lit for a practical morning routine or softened for an evening soak.
