Because our client lives in New Jersey and was traveling back and forth to Charlottesville to complete the renovation, timing and coordination were especially important. He needed a countertop partner who could work within his schedule, coordinate measurements efficiently, and ensure installation was completed within his timeframe.
For the kitchen, our client selected New Calacatta Laza Quartz, a beautiful choice that added depth, movement, and visual interest to the space while complementing the crisp white cabinetry. The result was a bright, polished kitchen with a timeless and elegant feel.
Our team quickly coordinated the measurement appointment and moved the project through fabrication and installation to ensure the countertops were completed on schedule.

Design Decisions

New Calacatta Laza, chosen to give a new kitchen its defining surface
New Calacatta Laza Quartz has a pure white ground with bold, sweeping grey veining that replicates the drama of natural Calacatta marble. In a kitchen built around white cabinetry, it is the surface that gives the room its visual character. Without a countertop this considered, the kitchen reads as a white room. With it, the kitchen reads as a designed space. For a renovation intended as a meaningful gift, that difference mattered.

Quartz for a kitchen where low maintenance is a genuine advantage
Natural Calacatta marble requires sealing, is susceptible to etching from acids, and demands ongoing care that not every household wants to commit to. New Calacatta Laza Quartz delivers the same visual drama with none of those obligations. For a daughter moving into a renovated apartment, a countertop that performs without maintenance anxiety is a more thoughtful gift than one that requires her to learn a care schedule before she unpacks.

White subway tile backsplash kept neutral, letting the quartz lead
The kitchen's backsplash stayed in a clean, neutral white subway tile. With New Calacatta Laza as the room's statement surface, a patterned or competing backsplash would have pulled attention away from the countertop's veining movement. A neutral backsplash gives the quartz the visual space to be the room's defining material, which is exactly the right hierarchy for a kitchen this clean and considered.
